Pearce Leather Works

Pearce Leather Works is a Grade II Listed building that has been stood derelict since 2002. Client Duggan Associates are renovating the building from an industrial building into residential flats and Simplify Engineering were asked to undertake a structural survey on the existing building to ascertain any major structural issues.

W. Pearce & Co was renowned worldwide for the quality of their leather. Their office and tannery, located Wellingborough Road, Northampton was built in 1939, at a time where circa 107,000 persons were employed in the shoe and leather industry in Northamptonshire.

A large portion of the original site has previously been redeveloped into housing; this was completed circa 2016. The main office building has had previous development undertaken at the rear of the property, this development was halted and not continued.
